Rhonda is an educator, chess coach, and founder of Discovery Center at Stony Point. With a background as an English teacher and instructional designer, she makes complex ideas clear and engaging. She founded OSOTA Chess at One School of the Arts, whose students earned national team and individual awards, and now guides intermediate scholars in recognizing patterns, building plans, and explaining their decisions.
Lead Coach, Beginner Scholars
Khjyetta "Coach Kay" Singleton is a University of Pittsburgh graduate and co-founder of Life Sciences Academy. Her work spans STEM programming, community partnerships, and learning across generations, and she leads business development and partnerships at Discovery. She introduces beginners to chess with clear explanations, guided practice, and encouragement.
Coach in Residence & Lead Coach, The Rated Room
Corey leads The Rated Room, helping players build the skills, habits, and discipline for tournament readiness. A co-founder of Legacy Chess Academy and founder of Chess Counselor, he connects strategic thinking with confidence, reflection, and learning from mistakes. He also serves as a tournament director.
Woman International Master in Residence
Knarik brings international competitive experience and more than 18 years of coaching. A four-time Arab Women's Champion and multiple-time Lebanese Women's Champion, she has coached national champions in several countries. Her strengths include tactics, endgames, and making challenging ideas accessible.
Tournament Director, Discovery Chess, LLC
Marcus brings tournament organization and structure to the competitive events that connect our chess community, giving scholars a place to put learning into practice, build sportsmanship, and gain competitive experience.
Virtual Chess Coach, Discovery Chess
Once an OSOTA Chess scholar and national scholastic competitor, Zion now coaches virtually for Discovery Chess. He brings the perspective of someone who has sat in his students' seats.
OSOTA Chess Program Leader & Chess Coach
Andrew now leads the multitier flagship OSOTA Chess program where he once learned to play, guiding the next generation through the same community that shaped his growth.
